The Singapore Global Investor Program is an ideal choice for global investors with proven entrepreneurial skills who are willing to invest in Singapore and support the economic growth and development of the country. Also known as the Investor Scheme, the program enables eligible global investors to permanently relocate to Singapore by way of investment. All they need is sufficient funds for investment, considerable business track record, and successful entrepreneurial background to be eligible.

Singapore Global Investor Programme- Pathways for Investment

There are currently two pathways under the GIP scheme:

Option A- a minimum investment of S$2.5 million in a new business entity or expansion of an existing business.

Option B– a minimum investment of S$2.5 million in a GIP fund is required to invest in a Singapore-based company.

Investment is one of the most essential criteria for selection under GIP. Additionally, prospective candidates must demonstrate that they have great entrepreneurial skills and a history of managing successful business operations.

Singapore Global Investor Programme- Application Process

  • The applicant must first pay the application fee to the bank account of Economic Development Board. Make sure you submit the document within first week of making the payment.
  • Once the above step is done, download the forms for Option A or Option B from the Contact Singapore website. The applicant must provide the details related to the investment amount and receipt of payment made toward the application fee.
  • After uploading the forms, send hard copies of the supporting documents to the Contact Singapore. Your documents must include a declaration of the investment plan, the transaction slip, and an undertaking that you have understood the terms and conditions of the GIP scheme.
  • If your documents are approved and you are also eligible for the PR, you will be asked to attend an interview session.
  • If your application is approved, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority will issue an Approval-in-Principle (AIP) PR status which will be valid for 6 months.
  • On issuance of the AIPPR status, you must make the investment of S$2.5 million in any of your chosen options.
  • Once you have cleared all the formalities, the ICA will review your investment and issue an approval of PR visa status.

Singapore Global Investor Programme – Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible under the GIP scheme, you must:

 

  • Fulfil the minimum investment criteria of S$2.5 million either directly in a Singapore-based company or in a GIP fund that invests in Singapore companies.
  • Hold at least three years of valid experience of running a successful business. The applicant must also submit audited financial statements for the last three years.
  • Your existing business must have an annual turnover of S$200 million in the most recent years and S$200 million per annum for the last three years.
  • Hold 30% of the ownership in his/her company if it’s a private company.

Apply for Permanent Residency Status in Singapore with Family

Under the GIP scheme, families of selected investors are eligible to apply for a PR visa in Singapore provided you meet the following guidelines:

  • Your children must be below 21 years of age at the time of apply
  • If your children are above 21 years and you want to include your parents in the application, then they can apply for the 5-year Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP). It’s a renewable visa and is tied to the validity of your re-entry permit.
