Permanent Residence Certificate for Persons of Independent Means
Requires investment of at least CI$2 million (approximately ₹18 crore) in developed real estate, in exchange for indefinite residence in Cayman Islands. The investor and spouse can also avail the right to work in the country.
Residence Certificate for Persons of Independent Means
Requires investment of a prescribed minimum amount (CI$1 million or CI$500,000 i.e. ₹9 crore or ₹4.5 crore) in developed real estate and fulfilment of financial standing conditions, in exchange for living indefinitely in Cayman Islands for 25 years without the right to work. Residence can be renewed after the 25-year duration lapses.
Direct Investment Certificate
Requires investment of CI$1 million (approximately ₹9 crore) in a licensed business that generates employment, prior entrepreneurial background or business track record (including technical, professional and other knowledge required for business operations), and substantial management control of the business by the investor.
Requires direct or indirect ownership of minimum 10% shares in an approved business category through which the applicant establishes substantial business presence in Cayman Islands OR proof that the applicant will be employed by an approved business in a senior management role; in exchange for a residency certificate that is valid for 25 years and can be renewed.
Permanent Residence Certificate for Persons of Independent Means
An applicant must submit Form R5, application fees and supporting documents to verify information about themselves and the investment to the Department of Immigration. The application will be reviewed and approved, if eligible. Eventually, the investor and their family members can apply for naturalization to the status of a British Overseas Territory Citizen, and subsequently apply for the right to be Caymanian. An additional benefit of this pathway is the possibility of securing a United Kingdom passport after five years.
Residence Certificate for Persons of Independent Means
Applicants must submit Form R2 along with application fees and supporting documents to the Department of Immigration, which will review and approve the application. Once the certificate is issued, the investor and family members can indefinitely reside in Cayman Islands.
Direct Investment Certificate
Applicants must submit Form R8, fees and supporting documentation to the Department of Immigration. After thorough assessment, an approval-in-principle will be issued, which is valid for a six month period during which the applicant must demonstrate that investment has been made and licenses have been obtained. Once this is done, the certificate will be issued. The certificate holder and family members can reside in Cayman Island for 25 years (the certificate can be renewed after this period) and work in the business they have invested in.
Residency Certificate (Substantial Business Presence)
Submit Form R6, application fees and supporting documentation (related to the applicant and business ownership) to the Department of Immigration. If the certificate is not immediately issued, an approval-in-principle will be issued for a six month period, during which the applicant must become compliant with all requirements. Subsequently, the certificate will be issued to the primary applicant and family members. The certificate holder(s) can reside in the Islands for 25 years. The certificate can be renewed upon the completion of this duration.
