Germany Self-Investor and Freelancer Visa

If yes, then a Germany Self-employed visa is the right option for you. Whether you want to apply for a freelancer or self-employed, you must fulfill the basic eligibility requirements to qualify.

The visa leads to permanent residency and citizenship in Germany and the EU by extension.

It’s worth noting that the German Authorities have not yet clarified any specific amount of the investment amount needed to apply. All you need is to meet the eligibility criteria and then apply for the visa.

Step 1: Make an appointment at the German embassy

Start by gathering all necessary documents, including passport, business plan, bank statements, letter of intent, and visa application form.

Step 2:  Apply for a temporary visa in your country of residence

Apply for a temporary resident permit from your home country and then come to Germany. You can convert your temporary visa to a freelance visa. A temporary residence allows you to work in Germany immediately after arriving in the country. The entire process takes around four months.

Step 3: Apply for a residence permit

  1. Make an appointment with a foreigner’s authority
  2. Apply for a residence permit for self-employment (Section 21 Act on the Residence – AufenthG)
  3. Request a list of the required documents from the foreigner’s authority and prepare them
  4. Handling fees can be up to EUR 100 (Section 45 Residence Ordinance – AufenthV).

Please note: Residence permit must be applied for before the expiry of the entry visa.
